Youth Ministry
Senior High Youth

The Senior Youth have adopted the name SOS (Seniors of the Shepherd) to identify the group and describe their mission in Christ – Save Our Souls. Therefore, rejoice; don’t panic, when there is an SOS event at Good Shepherd.
The SOS group has enjoyed activities that included a weekend shore retreat, attending dances, ice skating, decorating our Church Christmas tree, a movie night, a game night, a basketball league night, hiking and attendance at our Winter Youth Assembly.
GANG678 (Jr High Youth)

Our Junior Youth group adopted the name "GANG 678" – Meaning – Guys and Gals All Need God.
Generally the GANG meets on the 1st and 3rd Sundays from 7-8:30 p.m.
They have enjoyed: weekend retreats at Crossroads campground and at the beach, dances with other Lutheran youth organizations, game nights, ski trip, bowling, movie nights, attending concerts together.
Some of our service projects included: preparing and serving soup for a congregational meeting, hosting a neighborhood Easter Egg hunt,and participating in the CROP Walk.
OUR YOUTH ON THE GO

PILGRIMAGES
We try and find new and exciting ways to have our youth learn about their faith and grow in that faith. In past years our youth have traveled with chaperones to places like Germany, Washington, DC, New York, and other places on Youth Pilgrimages. These have been great learning experiences for our youth, allowing them to explore and grow their faith in new and exciting ways.

RETREATS
Opportunities for unique experiences are provided through retreats as confirmation students, senior youth group and junior youth group.
YOUTH GATHERINGS
We had about a dozen of our youth that attended the ELCA National Youth Gathering this past July (2006) in San Antonio, Texas. They had an enriching experience that included joining with over 20,000 other youth as well as involvement in a servant project.
They now are looking forward to the next national gathering scheduled for 2009.
WINTER YOUTH ASSEMBLY
This next Winter Youth Assembly run by the NJ Synod will be held in February, 2009 at Long Beach Island. Our youth always enjoy the great time of learning, sharing, and fun. You should see the video they made of their time there last year! Come and join in this year’s assembly and help prepare for next year and other youth gatherings!!!!
